I have Just bought SR300E for my son , He already Plays Guitar but also wants a Bass . He is 10 what strings would you recommend for him Please ? Any and all Help would be gratefully received.

STRINGS ON IBANEZ SR300E HELP PLEASE

For a 10 year old, I would suggest a lighter gauge, 40-95 maybe. You want to make it as easy as possible, even though he may have some finger/hand strength from playing guitar already. D'addario XLs are a good, easy to find, do-all string. The nickel is easier on the fingers than stainless steel. Dunlops are another popular option that are easy to find and inexpensive.
For someone who's just venturing into the world of bass, here's what I usually recommend as a good starting point:

I'm a fan of d'Addario. I would start with a light set. Lighter the better and as he grows bigger and stronger, then up the gauge to what he finds comfortable. If the gauge is to high he may think 'this is to hard' and not give it a real go.
Most likely the SR300E has already strung with D'Addario XL Nickels. Ibanez is known to choose .45/.65/.85/.105 as standard gauges for bass or in this case regular light top / medium bottom gauge EXL165.
I'm with other posters above, changing them to lighter gauge which correlates with lighter tension might help starters. The regular light gauge EXL170 or its balanced tension version EXL170BT usually is a good starting point. But... since he's just 10, although it depends on how strong his hand grip muscles have developed, I would suggest the super light gauge ELX220 or its balance tension version EXL220BT.
At least for me... though I've been playing bass for more than 30 years and I have my basses strung with D'Addario sets of regular light top / medium bottom gauge (EXL165, EFX165), regular light gauge (EXPPBB170, EXL170, ENR81, ECB81) and other strings with roughly equivalent tensions, I still prefer the tension of D'Addario super light gauge (EPS220) or from other string makers which have about the same tensions (GHS L7200).

some Round wounds hurt your fingers more, so Maybe flatwounds, but I dont think it will be that big of a problem
Well I decided to see what strings come on the Bass first then go from there,but I do appreciate all the info that you guys help me with
Don't worry about bass strings (rounds or flats) hurting your fingers for someone who already plays guitar. Guitar strings are much harder on your finger tips because they're skinnier and tend to dig into the finger tip. That's one thing I used to HATE about being a guitar player in my younger days.
Hi Guys Well the SR300E has come and the strings seam to be fine for my son. One Question ,what does the CCB stand for ? Dose anyone know please . Because Im new to Bass I have know idea what CCB stands for . Help ? ARR Right its Charred Champagne Burst Finish. Sorry to be so stupid guys

That's the color code. CCB = Charred Champagne Burst.

As far as I know, the factory strings for that bass are nickel rounds in gauges of 45-65-85-105, possibly by D'Addario.

Well I must be honest ,My son picked it, I wasn't to sure about it till it come today. But when i seen it, it really looks nice. Afew people were here when we open it and they all went Wooow thats lovely,and yes it looks better in the flesh than in photos .

Your son's bass probably came with D'Addario's installed. I know my Ibby did.
