Strings Pedulla players use?

the fat beams are surprisingly good just practising at home with them, not too twangy or overbright as anticipated and not floppy, will gig tommorow night with them for the acid test and see what there really made of.

The Fat beams were good 'live' but i feel low riders sounded better on my thunderbass with the volume pumped, at home practising at low volume the Fat beams sound better - wierd.

Granted, I did use 2 different mic pre's, but I think you can tell the difference in tone.

"6 AM" Rapture with standard nickel D'Addario. Used a Telefunken mic pre. Nice and fat and all...

But listen to "Natural Chemical"...and you'll hear the difference with the DRs. I tracked through a UA 610, I think. This particular track featured the great session drummer Nate Morton from the "Rockstar INXS" house band, as well as playing with Paul Stanley and a crapload of other artists.

None of the tracks were edited, so obviously there's some rough spots and stuff like that, since well, they are unmixed roughs.

Pedulla .045-.105 or .128 stainless steel round wounds on my Rapture basses and Pedulla nickel round wounds .045-.128 on my Pentabuzz.

I actually use TI Powerbass strings on my thunderbass and they sound amazing. Fullest sound I have ever gotten out of my Pedulla

I tried the stock Pedulla nickles, Kalium (Circle K) nickles, and found both to be way too bright and boingy. I couldn't get a properly warm sound, especially out of the B and E strings on the Pentabuzz I had. I opted for my favorite flat, Sadowsky Black Labels, and got a much more usable tone (to my ears).

I recently purchased a Pentabuzz from the TB classifieds; it came strung with Pedulla steel roundwounds, and the seller included an extra set as well. So far, I love the feel and sound of them, and I think I'm gonna stick with Pedullas!

I've been using DR Sunbeams on my Pentabuzz for a long time- I think more than a decade. I love them but I've been thinking of trying T.I. Jazz flats on it- maybe a little crazy, but I love them on my fretted Fender basses!

Depends on what kind of Pedulla. I have a Rapture Jazz 5 (sounds like a great jazz bass) and it came to life with some DR Fatbeams. Made a huge difference. It'

I ended up with TI Jazz Rounds on my Buzz. Warm but articulate, nice looser tension, expensive but lasts forever.
