Strings - Pickups distance?

Hey guys, I just installed a set of Dimarzio DP123. It sounds amazing, very nice tone.
I just have 1 question, what distance should the strings be from the pickups ?
I heard that the distance between the strings and pickups is really important.
Can someone tell me what will be a good distance?
Thanks !

If it sounds amazing, with very nice tone, I'd say you're at the right height. Doesn't Dimarzio make a recommendation for height? Or your bass manufacturer?

If you go lower and the volume drops off, you're too low. If you go higher and you get weird buzzing and distortion, you're too high. If the volume varies greatly from string to string, you need to tilt the pickup.

It's important, but it's not super critical that they be at a specific distance--they just can't be too high or too low.

LAst time I played @ church I forgot to bring the boss geb-7 so I had to max out the volume. I use a Ampeg BA115.
Today I used the pedal and my volume knob was @ half way and it was much louder and the tone was better. I love this pedal. I am thinking in getting the Limiter Enhancer but some ppl said its not good... I am not sure yet, just trying to find more reviews and the advantage of using it.
