Strings similar to La Bella's White Nylon Tapes (750T)?

Hi and sorry Stan for creating yet another thread,

I tried La Bella's light white nylon tapes (750T) on my Jazz and I think I'm in love. Problem is, my Jazz doesn't like them. Poor shielding is making everything buzz like a bee nest.

It's a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone was aware of a similar string in terms of tension and tone that isn't tape. Feel would be a plus, but not an absolute requirement.

Unfortunately, since the nylon separates the core of the strings from the bridge ground, you are stuck with the hum and noise.

White nylon tapes have similar tension once the nylon tape is taken off to a conventional set of stainless rounds in approximately 35-90 gauge. The tone is from the nylon tape damping the top end, and I don't know of any set of flats that are those gauges. Somebody else might.

Of the two mentioned, the 760FX would be stiffer in feel due to the hex core. The thing is they're both quite old-school in their tonal character compared to the White Tapes.

I would suggest Dunlop Flats 40-100 for something relatively flexible and not quite as old-school in their character as the La Bellas. They use a hex core of a smaller diameter, making them not quite as stiff as the 760FX.

Since you say tape-like feel is not a requirement, that suggests rounds are an option as long as other similarities are achieved. If so, I'd look at the light-gauge Sunbeams and the Dunlop Super-Bright Nickels (which, despite their name are not super-bright, but rather pleasingly bright and pretty well-balanced). Both are quite flexible and have roughly similar tone to the LaBella white tapes.

760FX and 750T are miles apart in terms of tension. 760FX are surprisingly stiff feeling IME despite the seemingly light gauges.

This is another answer to your question but in a different way:
I have LaBella black nylon 760 N on an active bass, and no noise.
May be an active preamp onboard could solve the problem, if you realy like those strings.
