Strings to fit AB90?

Hi all.

I've just bought a Washburn AB90 semi acoustic bass (2nd hand). When I bought it I was advised that it is difficult to get strings that fit the bass, and the ones that are currently on it do need to be replaced because the gauge is bigger than what I am comfortable with.

I usually like to use Rotosounds 40 60 80 100, but even the long scale ones of these are too short for this bass.

I am hoping that someone else here has a AB90 and is able to advise me on what brands of strings are long enough to fit this bass?

I find it strange that the Rotos won't fit because it is not a body thru bass and is a 34 inch scale.
Like you a prefer light gauge strings. I am not enamored of phosphor strings on an acoustic bass guitar due to the finger noise and twangyness of their sound. I would slap on a set of GHS Precision Flats (which fit anything up to 36 inch scale).

Thanks for the info.

The scale is the same, but the bridge is much further back than on my other 'normal' long scale bass, hence the long scale Rotosounds I usually would use are too short for this bass.

I have discovered what might do the trick. Rotosounds do an extra long scale set RS66EL, I think they are a thicker gauge to what I like, but I could find out if they do my preferred gauge in the extra long size.

Now I just have to find somewhere to buy them, they only seem to be available online from US sites...

I am sure you could use a search engine to find a dealer somewhere on your side of the pond that would carry them. It seems wacky to have to order strings from a U.S. distributer from a brand designed and made in your own country
Those strings are really good ones. My bass playing hero, Chris Squire, has used them since the sixties.
If you cannot find them there in your home country, then try [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] or bpstrings.com. I order from them often and they have very competitive prices and excellent service.
