I recently ordered a lefty gl l2500 second hand. to my dismay, the hex recess for the truss rod nut is completely stripped. im unable to make any adjustments to my neck. does anyone have any helpful suggestions?

stripped truss rod nut

will let you remove the nut (get the 1/8" one). When you order the wrench order a couple of these:
Invalid Link Removed
one as a replacement, one or more as a spare. If it's stripped there's a decent chance that it's bottomed out. I got around that by finding appropriate sized washers (can't remember exactly what size) and dremeling them so they fit in the truss rod cavity. If I had a better shop setup I would have taken the old, stripped nut and cut it into sections (reaming out the threaded part) to make better spacers/washers.
disclaimer: my experience was with an older (3-bolt neck) US L-2000. I can't say for sure if the sizes are the same on newer models or Tributes as I haven't worked with them in this way.

I had a problem where my nut on my TL-6 broke off. Take your bass to a luthier, They have a special boring tool they use that can bore back the area around the nut and can get it off for you. Worked great for me, saved my bass.
There is a thread here somewhere where you can get this tool if you want to try it yourself, I will see if I can find the link.
thanks craigb. as far as ive researched g&l still uses the same measurements. the nut on my l2500 is supposed to be a 1/8 inch. but my allen wont even fit in there...its a chewed up mess. you cant even define any sort of hex shape. now all i have to do is wait a 3 weeks for those parts to arrive!
