In a recent thread (DB, general, basses), I wrote I brought my used DB to David Desbois, luthier in Montreal. He called me today for more update on my set-up. The main problem is the twisted cheap German bridge lightly misplaced. He tried to make it right in hot steam and water. He thinks it won't work, for the problem may well occur again in a few months. So, he suggested me to install a new French bridge (he doesn't like German bridges) and reshape the fingerboard (the fingerboard had a real bad shape) in order to harmonize the bridge, the fingerboard and my new strings (hybrid medium). It's gonna cost more, but the instrument will be fine tuned with a much better tone and playability. He will also rework the too long soundpost for free. Fortunately, I got that DB for cheap and well equipped (accessories). All in all, it's gonna cost me less than a new one with no set-up.
