Well you've seen my other posts that had the business relationship stuff. So when I read this and saw the Washburn site I have to say I was wrong. But I still don't get it. There must be some serious money in play here for Stuart. But I'm not even sure that I'd associate Stuart with an acoustic bass. On the other hand it keep Stuart's name out there in front of people. But I still wouldn't be happy if I was marketing manager for the Urge Bass at Fender. (See previous posts). Onwards, upwards and sideways, eh?
After hearing Michael Rhodes with Lyle Lovett and Hutch Hutchinsen with Bonnie Raitt (I Can't Make You Love Me), I bought Washburn AB40 #0004. I had to wait since Washburn said there were only 3 in the country out on artist endorsements.
It is a very well crafted bass made in Japan. I kept it for about 10 years but I'm not keen on piezo pickups and now have an archtop acoustic bass with magnetic pickups.

How do you handle feedback with a bass like this. The old Epiphone Rivoli bass suffered a bit with feedback and i knew quite a few guys who olved the look back in the 60's but eventually moved on to solid basses as volumes went up.
What is it about this bass that makes you like it? Tone, look? Certainly looks very well made and finished.

Still no word on what it's like to play on? Maybe a special order only item? But various online site show them as in stock.

Looks like it a pretty high spec bass at $1400. Trouble is at that price point there's just so much out there. It's sort of top end of mass bass and bottom end handmade. Who's it aimed at? Do acoustic basses sell in large numbers to players prepared to pay $1400? I can see a big folksy, jazzy, sort of market for people playing at church or with friends - but $1400? Anyone got a handle on this one? Amy marketing guys out there that can correct our wrong assumptions whatever?
Anyone tried these yet? I'm a little curious, especially since search engines show them for $900. I've never really priced ABGs seriously and I'm not ready to buy yet but I would like to know if anyone has some info on quality, sound, etc.
