Stuart Clayton's Ultimate Slap Bass

Hi all.

Just wondering who else has used this book? I've been using it for a while and it's made a huge difference to my slap technique . I bought mine in hard copy a while back but there is also now a downloadable version at the Bassline Publishing website:

Definitely recommended for slappers, from beginners to advanced players.

+1 highly highly recommended. Probably the most complete book on slap out there and the best all around one that goes from basic disco to victor-wooten level insane by the end.

Totally worth it.

Bumping a ghost thread: I think I bought it as early as 2005 or 2006, around the time it was announced. Spent a little while on the beginner exercises and then - probably for lack of commitment - moved on to other things.

Since I am between bands at the moment and have no real interest in joining one anytime soon, I figured I'd work on finally learning to read (via the Hal Leonard Bass Method written by Ed Friedland).

But a few weeks ago, I figured I'd do something "different" on Sundays. Looked at my bass book shelve and found the Ultimate Slap Bass book and figured "why not". Might actually come in handy when I do join a band again.

Funny to note how some of these exercises have been ingrained in my muscle memory from all those years back. Mind you, I was much sloppier then and note length or groove didn't bother me

I am nearly coming up to the Ghost Notes chapter. At the time I didn't yet keep a bass journal (been doing that since 2012), but I did make some markings in the book, so I know this is about the time where (unaware of the irony) I abandoned the book. I look forward to discovering what's to come, and hope to become a somewhat better player for it.
