Hey Justin,

Hope all is well in the studio and the live realm.

I recently scored a pair of yamaha NS10m monitors and a yamaha p2200 power amp. Both in excellent condition for $500 total--Bay Area Craiglist is wonderful :). As much as I love this setup and working with it, I'm quickly realizing that it may be a good idea to get another monitor pair to function as my main set.

The two options I have in mind are the KRK V6 series 2 monitors and the AE1's. Iv'e done some searching in the forums and found that you and Nigel use the acoustic energy set. Have you ever used the AE1's as your main monitor set? What characteristics do you like about them? Hows the bass response?

Cheers!

Howdy...AE1 bass response is what I would characterize as "minimal". Very lean. Anything below 100Hz, forget about it. Also they are shallow in the mids between 800-1.5k. But I don't care, I like listening to them quiet and they are pleasing to me. My main ref are ATC 45's. AE1's are never going to be my main ref.

Thanks for the response, JmJ. Those ATC 45's must be a dream huh? You got any suggestions for a monitor set that would pair nicely with NS10m's? My other option was maybe just getting a sub.

Cheers!
