Stupid P Bass Pickguard Question

Forgive my Fender related ignorance.... just came into possession of a beat up MIM precision that has a cracked pickguard right at the output jack. It's a cream colored 13 hole guard with standard P pup, volume, and tone cutouts. Truss rod is at the headstock. I am utterly clueless as to what variant of MIM this is. It was formerly a college jazz band castoff, so I'm guessing whatever was cheapest and most common at the time. Based on the rust and overall road wear, I'm guessing its a 90's era bass. Would the serial number (MN3114424) give some clues as to what will fit? I know its not worth much, so I.want to get a cheap brown tort guard like this one:

Not an uncommon PG break, given the jack placement.

As long as the holes line up, get whatever PG moves you. Just be sure to loop your cable through the strap so you won't step on it and break the next PG.

A fender washer on the jack won't hurt anything either.

The question is: will any 13 hole p bass pickguard fit on any variant of P-bass? Are they identical from American to MIM? I don't care if I have re-drill screw holes, but will neck and pup openings line up? It seems like there are 100 subtly different P bass versions out there, about which I know nothing.

An AllParts guard will fit a MIM P-Bass as will the Fender replacement. The U.S. Fender pickguard will have the notch where the truss rod adjustment is at the heel of the neck. Because your adjustment is at the head stock, that's not the one you want. Fender sells a pretty cheap MIM replacement. I've found the AllParts equivalent to be just as good as long as it isn't a tort guard.

It actually is tort I'm looking for, is the Allparts tort guard no good? I'd like to find a brown tort, not the reddish kind. I'll check out the Fender MIM's.

The tort Allparts guards are okay, but not great looking to me. The best I've seen are the Fender replacements, but I think they only offer the '62 and '63 reissues in tort which means they'll have the thumb rest and pickup cover holes in them, plus the small notch where the truss rod nut would be at the heel of the neck.
