stupid question

I have been playing bass for almost a year, so I'm certainly not very experienced. I've been hearing a lot about MM and P and J pickups, but I have no idea what they are. I've looked online, on this site, everywhere, and I can't find anything. I can only assume P and J are Precision and Jazz, but MM? And I really don't know the technical definitions of each of them...if someone could enlighten me I'd appreciate it!

MM = MusicMan. Made by Ernie Ball, but not originally.

P's and J's are obviously Precision and Jazz, and Fender started all that off.

As for the technical side, i'll leave that to the gurus
