I left my gigging bands this spring due to family and work conflicts. But the new bass player in the country band couldn’t make a few this summer and I got the call to sub- how could I say no??
We played Firelight Camps in Ithaca, a local glampground (glamorous + campground.) They’ll rent you a yurt for $300 a night and make you feel like a movie star.
And there’s a large common area- ever-burning fire pits, snack bar (with s’mores fixins’!), food truck, full bar, lawn games… and music!
Pre show set up vibes:
Post show view from up the hill:
Who is this celebrity!? You’re probably wondering… Well, when I left the band, the banjo player left too. Turns out the new banjo/pedal steel player is none other than Dave Borisoff of Hipshot USA! The factory is right up the road from Ithaca after all. I’ve met a few musicians over the years that also work there, but this is my first meeting with the boss man himself. Super friendly, funny and a killer pedal steel player! (OK, “celebrity” might be a stretch, but I had a blast!)
Huge turnout and lots of smiles, dancing and positive feedback!
Food! Snack bar:
And Pizza Truck (sold out by the break, must’ve been good!)
Tons of local brews, I had the Ithaca Brewing Co Lakeside Lager.
We had a few shutterbugs on site, waiting for some pics to roll in. Until then the pre game setup:
Cheers
