subdecay liquid sunshine? catalinbread hyperpak? or?

hi! I know, another OD thread... but can´t find anything on the
subdecay liquid sunshine: Invalid Link Removed

I like the guitar clips, but you know, how is the low end.... I e-mailed subdecay, but no answer yet.

I am looking also at the catalinbread hyperpak dirty channel...

want a light OD, no fuzzy hi freq. buzz... I got that with the woolly mammoth & machine. also I want it to be in a small box.. thanks!

The liquid sunshine isn't very good on bass, well it's odd because Brian of Subdecay doesn't think it's very good on bass due to it's design. It cuts between 50hz and 100hz with that dual gain knob so you will get some to a lot of low end loss.

But Nic of Catalinbread loves the Liquid Sunshine on bass :eyebrow: so it depends who you want to believe.

There is little to no low end loss with the Hyperpak, you might also want to consider the Mojo Hand Mule as it's a very similar design to the hyperpak but it has a bit more bass and gain.

I've done A/B/ clips of the Mule and Hyperpak and they are very very very close sounding.

thanks! I listened to the clips in the database, and now I´m not sure... also in a review you said the mule doesn´t do light OD, it´s more of a "distortion with a fuzz flavour"?
also: "the Hyperpak can get cleaner than the mule"

so it sounds like the hyperpak is the winner for me..

edit: oh, I didn´t see this before: nick of catalinbread loves the liquid sunshine on bass?

hmm, guess I´ll have to order the hyperpak & the liquid sunshine, keep the one I like better ....

Yeah the Hyperpak can get cleaner than the Mule, I wouldn't choose either for mild/light overdrive that prise goes to the Cream Pie, but they are low to medium gain distortions so you can coax some nice od tones out of them.

If you missed my post yesterday Tonefactor will do hyperpaks for $111 till monday when there is a price increase to $125 (Which I think all dealers will be doing). Just shoot them an email to get it at that price.

See when I heard that from Nic it had me slightly interested in but I don't know how much stock I put in his opinion as a bass player he is much more of guitarist so it might have that famed guitarist playing bass sound :D

You might also be interested in a Buster Jangle if you can find one.
