Submit Your Dream Bass Design Here

Let's have a thread about our dream basses. And don't just make it one bass. That means you have to sacrifice variety and can only have it available fretted or fretless, 4,5,6, or 7 string, etc. Pretend like it's your own line of signature basses.

I'll start...

Mine is essentially a Lakland 4-94 or 55-94, with a few changes:

  • Fitted with a U-Retro Preamp
  • Comes Equipped with a D-Tuner
  • 2 9-Volt Battery Compartments
  • Fretted Birdseye Maple Boards have Black Dot Inlays
  • Extended Lower Body Horn for easier lap playing w/out a Strap
  • Extended Upper Body Horn so the extended lower one doesn't look funny
  • Matching Headstock
  • Available in 6 String

Of course Dan Lakin and I would have to convince Bartolini to make special 6 string MM pickups just for us. But let me dream!

What do you guys think?

Hmmmm...

Ash Body slab P style
Maple Neck and Board (sans inlays and/or fret lines)
Ash Covered Pickups
pair of J's for the fretted
just one Dual Coil (and a brass slap plate) for the fretlesses
available in 5 or 6 string
and in translucent colors (white, blue or red) or bursts (tobacco, cherry or traditional) with or without Red Tort pickguards.
metal control plate with 3 band active pre.

here's the first edition... #2 is in production

Body is much like the JP Zia, a singlecut the angles back towards the body, in stead of angling towards the headstock.Highly figured koa, with matching headtsock.
Headstock shape is like the Carvin 5-string headstock, but slightly broader.
A coated ebony fingerboard, hard coated like a Pedulla Buzz.
All black hardware, Hipshot bridge and lightweight tuners.Black straplocks, ebony knobs.
Bartolini MM/J pickups with NTMB preamp.
No inlays or decoration, just wood grain and black parts.

:ninja:

Basically take all the incredible technology and design features of a 5 string dingwall Z1 with a better look.
-Maple neck with paofaro fretboard and dual truss rods.
-Larger curvy retro looking 4+1 headstock to facilitate my preferance for comfortable neck diving. Maybe dingwall's clever shorter tuning machines.
-Dual density ash and maybe mahogany back Jazz shaped body. Possible routed tone chambers...
a big bad dead turtle to protect the clear finish, and to cut into pics and sell when I am retired and poor. A joke for the animal lovers!
-Custom string-through bridge that I am working on. (strings stop in the end of the bass, like a tail piece instead of the back, for a more pleasant breaking angle. Some one please complete it before me to save the hassle.)
-custom built 5 string gibson EBO pickup with coil tap (chrome and all).
-Solid bar pole piece Jazz pickup in the bridge position such as EMG select or Basslines stacked humbucker.
-Basslines or maybe aguilar preamp & passive switch.
