Substitute for Ampeg Micro-VR

My Micro VR just went out on me and I need to replace it asap. I'm shopping around before I buy another though, to see if there is anything I want more (I like to shop). Has anyone tried any other heads through the Ampeg SVT 210? I need to keep it under 300$ I play mostly jazz and some U2-ish rock. I don't need something to take on a stadium but the micro-VR stack is at the very edge of being inadequate in terms of volume. Just wondering what your thoughts on this are.
Thanks!

If I had to guess what happened, the OP's posts sound to me like he probably was pushing his little Micro VR to its limits trying to be heard through the rest of his band, and he pushed it too hard.

Based on the OP's stated need for more volume, and my theory of pushing too small an amp too hard, my honest recommendation would be to step up to something with more power, like the Ampeg PF350. The GK MB200 fits the price, but might not be enough of an improvement. It could also be possible to find a used GK Backline 600 or Markbass Little Mark head in that price range.

Hope that helps.
