I was going to be a troll and say the digitech x series synth, a former band leader of mine referred to it as the jukebox. But that made me think of the digitech x series bass chorus which I have on my b-rig board it can flange phase and chorus pretty well. I got mine for like $40 3yrs ago, but who knows what inflation did to that price...

Suggest a pedal/effect for the last spot on my board

I like having a multi function pedal at the end of my signal chain for fun and function cuz you never know what might work or be needed. Given what you are doing I'd suggest checking out a couple of different ideas.
Zoom MS60B or MS70CDR offer a trove of effects that could polish up your sound with modulation, EQ, delay or reverbs.
Source Audio Atrifakt has a lot of possibilities with EQ, creative distortion, modulation, tremolo and a lo fi delay plus the ability to add creative noise like record scratches or glitching.

I second a Zoom MS 60 or 70. They are a good Swiss army knife. Want flanger? They've got that. Chorus? Got that too. Tremolo for the surf sound? Got that. Anything you'd want to try there is something the the Zoom for it.
I currently use mine as an EQ pedal for a mid boost, but also in that patch is a noise gate and preamp that are always on.

A good chorus or that Boss BF3 flanger are what I was thinking also.
I was going to say HPF/LPF. But if you can only have one, the HPF for sure.

I am using RFE myself...which is HPF/LPF on steroids...
Sorry to the OP for a quick off topic, but 2saddleslab, what's that trapezoidal pedal with the tube?
It's the 1st version [batch #3] of the NightOwl Edison preamp boost, which I mistakenly let my son borrow.
I also have the 2nd version [batch #7], w/ vented case & added boost switch.

Case & finish:
Every production run of the Edison, 12 batches so far, comes in a unique case finish, as well as various LED colors. Batch #3, with its unfinished brushed metal case has a raw steampunk, rat-rod vibe. The trapezoidal case has the original tube window w/ clear plastic [glass?] glued from the inside. One volume...

I put a Subdecay Quasar in that spot (space on the board, no real need ) and have zero regrets. Envelope phaser mode is like a less peaky envelope filter.
Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions. I think I'm going to try a tremolo. Anybody have any word on trem pedals they like or don't like? Analogman makes a modded Boss TR2 with an internal volume knob that I'm kind of leaning toward right now.
Something like the EQD Hummingbird (basically a near 1:1 clone of the Vox Repeat Percussion), or something else based on the VRP or similar hard chop.
I think tremolo on bass is best when it's a hard chop, ie on-off-on-off...
as opposed to tremolo that's slowly fading innnouuutinnnouuutinnnouuut...
That's my subjective taste in Trem for bass though. Depending on the context, a harmonic tremolo can sound good too.
I like my Empress Tremolo and my Doctor Scientist Tremolemonessence.

I watched a video where the pedal had both tube bias setting for the (deep throbbing waving pulse) and signal bias setting for the choppier type.
on fender amps the small single ended tube amps (vibro-champ for sure and maybe the princeton cannot remember) deliver that tube bias tremolo by modulating the output tube itself, the bigger AB type amps use an optical resistor in the circuit and gives that chop. i was unpleasantly surprised when I built my DR to find out that difference.
I would think the pedal designers would spell that out in the specs?
Yeah, good point. I'll check out the Hummingbird. The Analogman modded TR2 I was looking at is sold now anyway. I've always kind of liked the idea of the Idiotbox Mad Doctor Stutter or Flash Stutter. Maybe I'll give one of those a listen in addition to the suggested EQD Hummingbird.
For now I just threw a BF3 Flanger on there to mess around with while I decide.
