.......the Thomastic Infeld Superalloy nickel rounds.
I just received a bass with these already on it & I'm blown away with how they sound.
Of course over the years I've tried lots of different strings but none have sounded this
good.
However, they are nearly twice the price of domestic made strings. So can anyone
suggest another brand, that I have missed, that sound pretty damn close to those
Infelds in an AB comparison ?
Thanking you in advance.

.......the Thomastic Infeld Superalloy nickel rounds.

Infeld Superalloy = Alloy 52 (nickel-iron alloy) roundwound.

Rotosound Ultramag = Alloy 52 roundwound.

GHS Progressives = Alloy 52 roundwound. (NOTE: The old version of the Progressives were discontinued over a year ago, and the new version, which was supposed to be introduced last spring, has been sidelined due to the pandemic. No expected launch date at this point.)

Thanks, but you don't mention wether you have been able to compare them soundwise, or are you suggesting
that because they are both Alloy 52 they must sound similar ?

Sorry, I probably should have been a little clearer with my post.

All I was trying to say is, if you want to find something that sounds similar to Infeld Superalloys, Alloy 52 rounds by other companies would be a good place to start as the nickel-iron alloy has its own unique tonal character due to its highly magnetic properties.

I was not trying to imply they would sound identical just because they share the same alloy for the cover wire.

I do think your suggestion does have significant merit & I will follow up on that.

Perhaps someone has tried the Rotosound Ultramag strings & could comment here ?

I have not tried the Infeld Superalloys. I am very curious about them, but was disappointed with the TI Power Bass set, and now kind of balk at spending $50 to try the Superalloys... though I might yet try them some day.

That said, I am very pleased with the Rotosound Ultramag series. Likewise, I much enjoyed the GHS Progressives when they were available. Regrettably I can't offer an A/B comparison with the Superalloys at this time, but nevertheless, you just might find the Ultramags agreeable.

What kind of bass do you have the Superalloys on?
