I was looking for something super simple and sounded like the comp in the Tech21 pedals. I just got a JHS Whitey Tightey and think it fills the bill perfectly.

The Mira is one of the most underrated compressors there is. They should have marketed this wonder towards basses from the beginning. It has an HPF, a blend, and no real tone coloring at all. I'll never play without one again, as long as I can find replacements if it breaks.

They pop up from time to time...

9v with 18v doubler, blend and an uncommon grit control. This grit makes three types I have in my chain so there are options, if desired, along with no grit.

I have the keeley limiting bassist and love it. Very easy to use and transparent.

Something intriguing would be to get the TC Spectra Comp and use their software to create a multiband compressor which could save your low end

I have used a bunch of compressors and keep coming back to the Spectra Comp. It’s always on, set it and forget it for me.
