Suggestions for Equipment Racks

Can anyone point me in the direction of cheap, but useful equipment racks. I will likely be needing enough space for 3 or 4 rack units at this point for my little studio.

I would consider buying (new or used) or building my own. Looking for advice.

Seems like there are always a few ads for racks on Craigslist.

If you just need something at home, not for transport or touring, you get these things for about 20,- and they work well.

I just got the K&M equivalent, a few days ago: https://www.thomann.de/intl/km_40900.htm
Reassuringly solid, and it even came with proper cage-nuts. This is a thing, when you've spent a lot of time racking networking equipment in data centres :)

Snob!
I love K&M, too. Sometimes, I feel tempted to buy K&M stands and then just something to put onto it to justify owning the K&M stand. This time it had to be cheap.

Guilty, sometimes :)

However, with stands it's about buying known-good, and having a keen eye on the cost of failure. If a stand fails, something's going to hit the ground, and some of my gear is irreplaceable because it's out of production.

I shopped around for both desks and equipment racks for my home studio all summer. I really wanted the Platform desk by Output with the integrated 3U rock units but not shipping to Canada at the moment. There’s some stuff coming out of Europe that looked interesting. Also looked at Etsy. None really fit my requirements/budget. I actually bought the hardware to build my own, but for practical reasons did not move ahead on that.

I ended up going with a pair of these sitting on an IKEA powered sit/stand desk.

I settled on this:
On-Stage WS7500 Series Workstation Rack Cabinet, Black

It set me back a couple of clams. It arrived last night and it took me about 10 minutes to assemble.

My new Focusrite 18i20 arrives this afternoon along with a Samson balanced patchbay. I can't wait.

I have been "filming" a video of my studio upgrade. Will share.
