Not really JBL like. Most JBL drivers are pretty flat out to where it rolls off. Those Deltas have a 5dB peak at 2.5K before they roll off quick.

Adding that aluminum dust cap will extend it's upper end reach a little bit, but it's no JBL. Not saying ones better than the other, depends on your objective.

Wow ! At that price, I would try to find an equivalent Eminence or Celestion instead :

Nominal Diameter

The Sunn speaker is not a Delta Pro speaker... it may be based on it looking at the cast frame, but the Sunn eminence is rated at 200 watts not 400 like the Delta Pro. Maybe a Beta 15-A with a cast frame?

I know it's not a Delta Pro, but it's based on the Delta Pro platform (metalwork).

The power rating is unrelated to the name of the speaker, it's very much based on the soft parts used and the thermal/mechanical limits that go along with these choices.

For guitar and bass applications, there are derating factors that may be applied based on the specific application. For example, for a guitar application with an almost even-hung (or slightly overhung) coil, a 50% derating is common. The short VC winding is used in guitar for tonal purposes as well as for sensitivity and HF extension, plus there will be a duty cycle factor that also plays into the derating. For bass, the soft parts will be different, and generally mechanical limits come into play more quickly. The derating will be based on a combination of the mechanical and thermal limits.

In case you weren't aware, I worked for Fender for about 5 years and was tasked to evaluate a few products in the Sunn line to see if it might benefit from a new opportunity (which it wouldn't and didn't).

So do you think it is maybe more like the Beta-15 or completely different? and I was aware of your Fender stint..

The speaker being offered is not from the Fender days, it's either a replacement from the new Sunn company (a former Fender guy is part of that) that's being sold by Amplified Parts, or it's a run of new speakers that's entirely by Amplified Parts.

It has a custom label that's newer than the Fender/Sunn days. It's also possible that it's based on the Kappa metalwork, or a Kappa/Delta hybrid motor. These are all possible.

Since there are no TS parameters available, I would run away (especially at that price).

Thank you, It does say it is the speaker used in those Sunn cabs. It maybe a replacement speaker...

I think that driver model number is for the new Sunn company, I looked back at a few of my old docs and some had "SPL" in the driver number (from the SPL series), and there were a bunch of much older drivers as well.

I'm 99% sure these drivers are exclusive to the new Sunn and are being offered aftermarket at very high prices (at least IMO).

Perhaps the new Sunn company is having capital issues.
