Sunn 200s

Hi all,

Looking to buy a Sunn 200s. What are the pros and cons of owning one?

P.s if you have one that you would like to sell please DM me.
I've owned several, plus other Sunn gear of the original era. As long as it's in good functioning condition, and the lower wattage factor is not a problem for you, it's a classic solid meat and potato amp, As it is linear design, you can get a little more "umph" out of it, and it helps to run it into efficient drivers. Sure, it's old school weight with those Dynaco transformers, but it isn't that heavy.
Try to get a history on the tubes(there's only four), and see about all new ones whenever possible…get KT-88 power and have a proper tech set it up. Know that it will stay relatively clean up to a certain point, but when you cross the line the distortion is very buzzy…

What's the price?

If using the vintage 200s 2x15, one con is difficulty swapping speakers. They are rear loaded and access from the rear is made difficult by the angle-mounted boards that are part of the cabs' interior design. Get a screw gun you'll need it.
