I'm building a cab for a friend of mine who has a Sunn Beta Lead, he is curently using a 8 ohm Ampeg 410HE. I'm building a 2x12 using 2 Deltalite II 2512 speakers wich are 8 ohm a piece. What would be the best way to wire them? The Sunn has 2 4ohm speaker outputs, I figured that if I wire the 2x12 in parallel that it would be at 4 ohm's but with combining the cabinets that would result in a 2 ohm load. If I wire the cab in series than it would be 16 ohm and for the amp using both cabs that would be around 5 ohms. I'm guessing the last option is the best one right? I guess the Sunn can handle a lot but I'm not really looking to blow out the output transformers on that thing.
Yes it's for bass. But with the parallel wiring I end up with a total load of about 2 ohm right? I'm not the sure the amp can handle that.
Wire the 2x12 in series. That way you have a 5.3ohm total load, and all 6 speakers get the same amount of power.
