Super-J you know and would recommend?

I'd like Fender Jazz Deluxe 24 very much. I'd gladly buy it for a reasonable price, but they were discontinued for quite a while and are hard to come by, especially here in Ukraine. Sometimes they pop up on Ebay or Reverb, in case of USA or Japan owners usually are not willing to ship to Ukraine.

So what other basses would you recommend as a substitute? My requirements are very simple: it has to be an obvious j-bass, 4 strings, 24 frets.

You can build the bass with all the specs you like.
The Jazz model, which is called Elwood, starts at 1000 euros. With 1500 euros you can have a super jazz bass, custom made. It takes 12 to 14 weeks.

Well, it seems that only their M-series has 24 frets, and thats not j-basses at all. Besides, I already have an Ibanez BTB which seems to be from the same league as Sire M.

I don't think I've seen a jazz with 24 frets. I know that the Jazz 24 was out there but they weren't made for very long - and exactly why I don't know. What about a Kiesel/Carvin?

I'm also pretty sure Ibanez makes lots of affordable stuff with 24 frets. The soundgear necks are pretty similar to a jazz neck as well. Sure, the pickups might not be identical since they're usually HH or ok, but you could split coils in an HH and have a reasonable facsimile.

Dang, well, I'm sorry to say that's all I could think of. I know Fender won't touch 24-frets anymore for some odd reason either, even their ultra series might only have like 22 frets, I think my old american deluxe has 21 or 22. Their whole business model is based off of design momentum - there are probably a bunch of people hanging around a garage somewhere, disgruntled about the fact that fender makes five-string and active basses.

Sire actually made a 24-fret V7 for Nathan King at Anderton’s. They mentioned something when they showed it, about contacting them about how to get one made...

You could look at the Ibanez Adam Nitti model which has Seventies Jazz pickup spacing and a two octave neck for just under $2k. The Ibanez models with Nordstrand single coils can get you pretty much the Jazz sound without the Jazz look.
