Sushibox FX Finally v3: Defective or normal!?

Hi!
Today I received my Finally V3 DI-Box. However, I'm not sure if my unit is defective or not. I've tested it with my passive Precision bass via the line-out-jack into my amp. I noticed that in order to get unity gain (same volume as if the pedal is bypassed) I have to crank the level knob to max. Until 5 o'clock this knob does hardly anything - but then it suddenly jumps to a very high volume with a high-pitched noise and a high noisefloor. When keeping the level knob lower (to minimize noise), I have to crank the gain knob - which of course results in unwanted distortion. Am I doing something wrong? I'm powering it with a Cioks DC7. Tried it with 500 and 1000ma (via the grey cables). Thanks for your help! Peter

Just wanted to follow up — the Finally V3 is working perfectly fine.

The issue was on my end: I initially tested it through the Accessory input of a Fender Rhodes Suitcase, which turned out to be a poor match for an active tube DI. That caused the strange level behavior and noise I described.

Connected to a normal bass amp (Markbass Little Mark), everything behaves exactly as expected: smooth gain/level control, no squealing, normal noise floor.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in — lesson learned on my side! The Finally is really great!!!

Just FIY the new Finally doesn't have that trimpot inside. The 1/4" output and DI have separate volume controls, made indeoendent from each other by a buffer.

Anyway the matter has been resolved and that's what matters :)

I had similar behavior trying to drive my practice headphones with Finally, no problems if I plug directly into amp or amp fx return and then use headphone out of said amp. I guess I’ll need headphone amp after finally for quiet practice without full amp.
