svt 4 pro fan problem. help!

I just traded my svt classic for an svt 4 pro and some other goodies.

Anyway, when AFTER I got the 4pro I realized that right when I plug it in, the fan starts going, even when the unit is not on.

This has not happened with any other ampeg products I have used and I was wondering if this was a problem. Let me know what you guys think!

DISCLAIMER: I'm not a tech.

Doubt it's a problem but it's not supposed to work that way. Sounds like someone purposely did that. I suppose it's better than not coming on at all but I probably wouldn't care for it just because it's annoying to unplug every time you stop playing.

That's clearly not correct.

The original fan is a DC fan that is temperature controlled. It cannot work until the power is on, and teh DC is available.

From what you wrote, it seems like someone re-wired it with an AC fan and managed, by idiocy or design, to wire it before the power switch.

No telling without a good look inside by someone who knows what is correct.
