SVT 4 Pro Snap Crackle & Pop?

I just got a new Ampeg SVT 4 Pro and took it out of the box hooked it up to my Messa cab and gave it a try, It sounded great until I started to hit the strings a bit hard to get the sound I like and I started to get a snap sound (like a dirty capacitor or pot discharging) when I hit the E and A strings. I never had this problem with my SVT 3 and was just wondering if anyone knew what it might be and if I can deal with it without sending it in?

Turn down the tweeter on the cabinet?

That noise may be simply the high harmonics of short bursts of clipping..... even very powerful amps will clip... ALL amps clip. The 3PRO is a lot less obvious about clipping due to the tubes in the power amp which provide all the voltage swing (gain).

Well I tried lowering the frequency on the cab but still get the cracking sound, it seems to be linked to the EQ and Bright circuits as when I shut down the EQ and/or Bright the cracking seems to lessen? I took the unit out of the rack and opened it up and all was clean and dust free (except for a gooey substanct on one of the heat disapators (which I cleaned up) and one tube seemed to be in a bit crooked (so I straightened it out) Hopefully this fixes the problem. There is another funky thing though, the balanced lines out dont seem to be working? Ive tried every combination of the pre and post swithes and the mono bridged swith and get nothing but white noise at the board? Any Ideas what may cause this? :crying:
