SVT-410HE and B2RE

Hi All,
Recently I have switched from playing Guitar to Bass. I am needing a rig for gigging small bars/pubs. I am looking at a used Ampeg SVT-410HE powered by a Ampeg B2RE. I know I don't care for deep low end so I'm not interested in the 410HLF. Eventually I will get a second 410HE. My question is....Will the single 410HE powered by the B2RE (250 watts @ 8 ohms) be loud enough for small venues? Anyone else running a similar rig? Thank you, any advice will be much appreciated.

I would get two 8 ohm 2 10in cabs or a 4 ohm 410. With the two you can get the full 450 watts out of the amp, and with the one at 8 ohms will handle the smaller jobs. FWIW i had an B2RE and it did not have the classic Ampeg sound I was looking for. It was kind of disappointing all around in my opinion. But if you like it, buy it.

Only trouble with that scenario is that the 4 ohm Ampeg 410 is the 410hlf which goes super low, and the two 210's Ampeg makes now, even though I have two and use them regularly and love them, are light-to-medium duty cabs. Kind of agreed on the B2RE but the price is good and there are worse amps out there.

I own the 410he and love it. I use it for same applications, small bars/clubs and its more then enough. I also have a small car So whouldn't be able to carry two 4x10 So glad this comes through. A friend had a b2re and agree it might not have that" ampeg" sound. But definitely not a bad head for the price I've seen some used go for.

One cab should be fine for smaller venues. But for larger places with no PA support you will need that second one, especially if you play in a loud band..

Currently running the cab with an Acoustic B200h head. 200 watt solid state head which I happen to like the sound I get from this combination so far. Always open to maybe upgrading the head but the cab is definitely gonna be my keeper. As was stated earlier with the V4B, which happens to be a tube amp and 100 watts, you should have no problem for small bar/clubs. It's rare if my head is even at 50% percent volume to be honest. Punchyness, clarity, loudness, has never been lacking and I mostly play 90s covers and original hard rock which can be loud.

I own two 410HE cabs and have previously owned a 410HLF. I like the HE cabs better. I have also owned a B2RE head and liked it for small gigs. I went to an SVT6PRO because I play mostly larger gigs and find that the 6PRO allows to play large or small venues.

Excellent. Yeah I'm just hoping the SVT-410HE powered by the B2RE will have enough horsepower. I play 80's covers mostly small clubs/bars. Our drummer is loud as hell, one of the guitarists has a 2x12 fender combo but the other guitarist is running a 100watt Splawn head through a 4x12. I'm not wanting big deep lows, just want some punch and clarity. Just enough to cut through a bit.

I m just old and lazy and hate to have to carry a heavy 4-10. At first i used a 1 15 Peavey 8 ohm with a BW speaker and it had trouble keeping up with a guitard with a loud Mesa combo. With 2 Ampeg 2-10's it kept up much better with power to spare. So I suppose a 4 10 will do the same as long as it is 4 ohm.

Just an FYI...........

If you had two cabs and the ONLY difference is that one was 4 ohm and the other was 8 ohm - you would not really hear a big difference between the two.

Going from 250w to 400w is not even +3db, so it is wasteful to try to get "all the watts" from an amp.

When trying to get louder, speaker surface area trumps wattage every time.

Yepper. Every single time. The headroom is kind of nice, but really, that kind of wattage difference mostly manifests itself as headroom.
