SVT 410HEN

I have an SWR 550X and an Ampeg SVT 115E right now. I was thinking sbout adding an SVT 410HEN to the mix. I read some reviews about the HE cab not being so great on the low end, but I'll have an SVT 115 under it. Does anyone think this this would be an alright setup? I know where there's an HEN for sale, but I would not be able to test it with my rig before i buy it. Also, what does the "N" mean? I could only find HE's online.

sounds like a good setup to me. i think the hen is the same as the he with just a little more power handling. might go a little deeper, as well, but not as deep as the hlf.

Should sound good, and if it doesn't, should also be easy to resell the cab.

That's a great-sounding and relatively popular combination. Not all such mixed configurations work out well, but this one does. The "n" in "hen" stands for Neutric connecter (provided in addition to the standard 1/4 jack). Ampeg cabs were USA-made until recently; newer ones have been constructed in several other locales.

AFAIK, the SVT410-HEN is the exact same as the SVT-410HLF with the exception that it is an 8 ohm cab as opposed toe the HLF being 4 ohms. same frequency response and power handling (500W rms).

I get much low end from my 410HE. More so than when i was just using a single 15.

Got the cab. It's in perfect shape and the rig sounds great. The two cabs work really well with each other, and they look El Baddasso together

OP, I believe the HLF (4ohm) is ported while the HEN (8ohm) is a sealed cabinet. It's good down to around 50hz. I was using the HEN in conjunction with an Ampeg B2r and Fender M-80 ported 2x15, grey carpet. This combination sounded huge, and easily overpowered my band. I found a SWR Big Ben to replace the 2x15. This combo is sufficiently loud but more importantly, very smooth. For what it's worth, I gigged for several years using only the HEN, but over time felt this cab alone was lacking in low end.

I think $280 is a pretty good price.
