SVT 7 - a different question

Been playing the SVT 7 for 6ish months now. After the initial issues and replacing the main board, it's been fantastic.
Here's my new question/issue: I tend to drive it pretty hard - drive around 2:00 or 3:00. Sounds hot and driven hard, which is cool for what I'm doing right now. Sound from my 410 is great. However, I send a pre out to the board via the xlr out and more often than not it clips and breaks up. The padding being on or off does not alleviate this. The only solution I have found is to send the board pre-eq signal, which bypasses the drive.

Any thoughts? It seems like I'm just sending the board a signal that's too hot due to the level of drive I'm using.

Open to ideas and suggestions...

Yes...there's a -40db pad. Quiets it but doesn't prevent the clipping.

Right as it should not. The signal you are sending to your power amp is a clipped signal, as is all distortion. You are just hearing the difference between it pre and post going through your cab. What you are hearing is exactly what should be happening. You just prefer the tonal effect of your cab in your signal chain.

It's not a matter of just "not liking the tone" that is sent to the board...it crackles and breaks up and sounds like a tweeter is frying. This has happened with different boards, cables, and mains. Some it works ok with though.
Yes, I can probably dial back the gain a bit if necessary. Just looking for others with similar experiences. I can't be the only one to drive the SVT 7 super hot.

You just need your sound guy to filter your signal, and cut everything above 6k or so. Cut down the signal to protect the tweeters in the PA.
