SVT-CL ohmage question

Just a quick question, with my ampeg svt-cl is it better to use an 8ohm or a 4ohm cab?

I don't think you have a choice. The CL is only set up for 2 or 4 ohms.

It is better to use a four ohm cab or two eight ohms, or two four ohms and switch it to two ohms output.

If you keep the volume down on it, you can use 8 ohms safely, but if you play with any decent amount of volume, you run the risk of stressing out the tubes and transformers and giving them shorter life, and the louder you go, the worse it gets. So not a good idea to run at anything but 4 ohms or 2.

Yes, between the two options, 4 ohms is the only acceptable one. Although, odds are, you may be able to rewire the 8 ohm into a 2 if you're handy.

that only works if there are 2 or more speakers at the rights ohms. you can change a speaker's resistance... but that takes alot of work that most people don't ever want to do.
