I have a SVT 3pro head now that I really like the tone of but I'm looking for soemthing more powerful so I decided to go with the SVT 4pro head. Can I get the same tone I get from my 3pro? I basiclly NEVER use the eq, all the tone controls flat, tube gain and master all the way up and adjust the gain for volume. I'm hoping I'll have the same tone witht he svt 4 just with more power. I also run a mono setup not a stereo

SVT Pro 3/4 Question

i had an amp in between going from 3 to 4 and i find from what i remember, it's pretty close, if not better. i was always happy with the tone of the 3 pro but felt it was underpowered. the 4 is perfect.
The 6-Pro has your name written all over it.
It has the same architecture as the 3 but with a parametric EQ and tons of power.
The 4 doesn't have the 2 driver tubes in the power section so is a bit less toob sounding and you don't get the "Tube drive".

Yes, the 6PRO will be much the same unit but more power. Same deal of tube driven mosfets.
The 4PRO is a good amp, but not at all the same as the 3PRO. It has a 'conventional" type of mosfet power amp, and will definitely overdrive differently.

I've owned both and to be honest - the "tone" of the 3Pro was a little more "tubey", if you will, than the 4Pro.
Still, I traded in my 3Pro on a 4Pro.....the difference (for me) wasn't really a deal breaker....
Ok, I just got my SVT 4 today. I noticed in mono bridge mode (using a AMpeg 4x10 HLF) that there is more noise then my SVT 3 pro. Is this normal since it's much more powerful?
i have the SVT-3 and after having it for 3 months i also started to think that i needed something with more power.
Well i still have it and its very powerful, it does the job and shows and practices with my band.
