Just curious as to what most SVT users do to send a signal to FOH. Mic the cab? Send a preamp out signal to a direct box?

With an SVT rig, who NEEDS to run it to the FOH? Crank the sucker up!!!

Usually just the di. I think the di in the svt-cl is very good, sounds better than a countryman to me. A senheiser 421 is a nice mic for capturing the ampeg growl imo.

Well, one reason would be to sound good in the mix rather than to just be an overbearing wanker that makes the entire band sound bad so they can be the center of attention.

I'm talking old school SVT's, before the days of balanced DI outs.

Sean, seems you answered your own question.

    DI straight from the bass.

Mix to taste. The soundmen I work with tend to use the mic signal mostly. I do the same thing when I'm mixing the band, you get the best of both worlds.

When I use my 71 or 73 SVT heads, I run the bass through a DI box first to split the signal. With my SVT-II heads I simply use their DI outs. Good point made about keeping stage volume down. I have plenty of SVT heads and 8x10 cabs and could create ear-splitting volume, but I know that if I exceeded a reasonable stage volume, the FOH sound would be terrible and the whole band would suffer. Use the PA, it is your friend.
