SVT-VR problem.

yep... not gonna open it. Nothing good could possibly happen by my doing so. I just didn't wanna get nailed by a complete retube at full retail price on the parts and not have it be the solution.

Which is why it's a good idea to check for the obvious tubes first. if it IS one, you save trouble.

Complete re-tube would be stupid anyway (but idiot techs often recommend it), since only one would be causing the problem. So how does replacing a bunch of others that are NOT the problem fix anything? Not to mention that tubes don't 'go bad" that fast anyway.... not decent ones, at least.

The time element should suggest a non-tube problem, although it does NOT guarantee it.

The real answer is finding a trustworthy tech, who actually has a clue. But, YOU have to explain exactly what happens and how and when and what was being done when it did...... Otherwise the best tech may be left to guess.

Shipping is a bear..... local is better. But if all else fails, LS Electronics in St Louis is as good as they get.
