Svt3pro or Pf500

Ok so I posted the other day that I bought a BA210v2 and the ran across a great deal on a BSE410hlf. I still haven't decided whether I am keeping the BA but looking for a head for this cab.I found a SVT3Pro for $250 guy says it sounds fine but may need a tube.I could do this or get a new PF500.I am leaving for wk now but will check back later for any thoughts.Thanks,Todd

Preamp tubes are not expensive, and the 3Pro is 10X the amp the PF is. Class AB vs. Class D power section for the win.

Wow another great deal if that 3 Pro is in good shape. Preamp tubes are not expensive. I'd go 3 Pro.

I know there are many players that like their PF500 but I could never trust one.

I've played a PF500... I own a 3-Pro. For $250, I'd buy another just because.

New production tubes (JJ, Sovtek, Tung Sol etcetera) $9 on sale to $30. NOS can get really pricey. First tube closest to the input jack is the most tone important. Many 3-Pro may sound "off" and be blamed on tubes when they just need the bias adjusted on the output section. It is a REALLY touchy adjustment and inexperienced folks can easily fry the amp by not being cautious. A low cost "repair" from a good shop though.

Whatever you do, I'd still keep the BA210. There are times where you'll appreciate having a combo that's easy to get around with.

3-PRO, but for that price I'd make sure that all it needs is a tube and that it's not something more serious.

Another vote for the SVT-3.

I don't know why the seller says it sounds great, but needs a new tube (the assumption that it needs a new tube implies that it does not sound great), but based on my SVT-3 experience, if the amp is sounding distorted, the bias needs adjusting (not new tubes). As B-String said, adjusting the bias is a cheap fix for a tech.

$250 is a great deal and the BSE410HLF is a 4 ohm cab, which will pair nicely with the 3.

Thanks guys for all the replies,I posted I'm going to look at it tonight and questions about what to watch for.

So I went to look at this and the guy didn't bring a power cord,BUT he offered to let me take it and try it without paying.It was not beat up or scratched up just missing a knob,not even any of the sliders on the eq were broken like a lot I've seen. I ended up offering him $200 for it and it's mine.By the time I got home it was too late to see how it sounds but I took the top cover off,plugged it in and powered it on.It did come on and all 5 tubes glowed but one was a little dimmer than the rest,will see if sound comes out of it tomorrow.

The dimmer one is most likely just a different brand.
