svt410hlf too much?

Im hoping to find something...I have a gig 2-5-12 and its our biggest gig so far..id really like to get a good feel of the cab before hand..now just gotta decide against a 412 or a 410(with aspirations of getting another cab to stack on top)....now shall I look at 4 ohms or 8? What are the pros and cons with the gk700rbII amp in each of those ohms?

My friend, you've got so many threads currently going that all have the same theme. :hmm:

The difference in sound/volume between the same cab running @ 8 ohms -or- running at 4 ohms (more wattage at the amp) is really small. Seems big on paper. In the real world... not so big.

But, with the amp you already have, if you get an 8 ohm cab, you have the option to add another cab. You don't have that option with a 4 ohm cab. And adding another cab WILL change sound/volume in a big, very noticeable way.

I've gigged a long time, and flexibility of equipment is my mantra these days. For me, the option of being able to use one or two 410 or 212 cabs trumps only being able to use one 412 cab. But that's just me.

I think id be spending more than id like to getting 2 212s...I have about $600 to spend, depending what I get for my ampeg...the GK 212s run at $549.99 at guitar center. The 412 retails at around $700....

Your $600 would get you 2 used Bag End s15-d. They would smoke many cabs and stacks out there. Great stage and house tone, plenty loud, use one for small gigs.

well checked out a local music store here in Houston, and they have the GK Neo 410(8 ohm) BRAND NEW for $469.99....$130 less than what guitar center is pricing them at.....hopefully I am able to get them to match the pricing on this item....they do not run a sales ad, however, but i am gonna try my best....if I can get them to honor that price, there is also a 12% off coupon on any NEW gear over $99 i believe.....gonna try what I can to make this work..i currently have my Ampeg SVT410HLF on craigslist and am asking $550 or better offer, though I would take $450-$500 for it cash....there may be hope for me after all! if i can swing this the way I want to, I may end up ordering the used GK 212-ii neo for $399...I pmed a certain TB user, and he assured me that it would be a good combo for my 700RB-II amp.....

all that being said....I will await the verdict at guitar center tomorrow after work, play through the neo410 in store and hope for the best....for that big of a price difference, i have no problem driving to the other store to save $130...well actually $120 if you include the $10 for gas getting there....

wish me luck guys! im getting closer to finally finding my "sound"!!!!
