I'm hooking up an Ampeg SVT-4Pro to one Ampeg 410hlf 8 ohms and an Edens 410XLT 8 ohm. For the Head to the Ampeg 410 I'm using a speakon connector from the "Hot Power amp A. Does it matter which 1/4" connection I use to drive the Edens seeing that it doesn't have Speakon?

No, but I'd like to know how you have an 8 ohm 410HLF when they're made 4 ohms. I would make triple positive yours is 8 ohms before trying it. It'll fry your amp to go below 4 ohms.

Jimmy, you are correct, the 410HLF is 4 ohms.

Then don't use the Eden cab with it. Use one or the other.

Or use the two different power amps?

Or you could use the two different power amps ;)

    Right, sorry...forgot it was 2-ch!

Thanks. I switched the Edens for an 410HE ohms.

OK the best way to drive a pair of 4 OHM or cabs of different impedences is to run the head in dual mono.

Switch the selector pushbutton on the rear to the OUT position.

Then use a speakon with pins +1 and -1 connected, not a MONO-Bridged cable and connect it to AMP output A.

Then if you don't have a second SPEAKON cable, you can use a speakon on one end and a 1/4" jack on the other... (just not the one that comes with the 4PRO) as it is a bridge cable with the speakon wired +1 +2... or a cable with 1/4" on each end.

The 4 1/4" jacks on the rear are the left pair channel B out and the right pair channel A out.

It is better to plug your 1/4" plug into the OTHER CHANNEL. The amp will then provide 490W to each channel and Use ALL of the 20 FETS in the amp to provide your power.

If you accidentally plug the 1/4" into the same channel you will be putting the cabs in parallel and the amp can in dual mono / stereo provide 600 Watts to 2 OHMS. You will be making those 600 watts across only 10 FET's and the other channel will just be sitting there.

I would go buy yourself another standard Speakon to speakon cable. It will make setup consistant, with zero chance of error.

If you feel fiesty and plug the amp into the 410HLF in mono-block chances are you will break the cab. The amp has enough power with 490 watts per channel to fart out an HLF on one channel let alone the thing at 1200 watts.

You could have drove the 8 ohm cab on one channel as the amp makes 300 watts per channel in dual mono @8 ohms. It would have provided 490 to the 4 ohm cab.

How do I know this? I own a some SVT-4PRO's and some SVP1600's.

Well I decided to not use an additional cabinet and just go with the 4Pro/410HLF for the concert last and realized I had power to spare. Pant legs were flapping from the breeze all night . One thing I really loved was how this cab handles the low B from my 55-01, talk about brown notes, wow.

    Thanks again guys.
