svt4pro to one ampeg 810 hookup

I reviewed this subject a bit and everyone is saying the same thing, either the svt4pro monobridged isn't very loud or its soo loud its clipping the hell out of the speakers. When i finally got mine setup correctly in mono bridge, it was clipping bad! So now i'm deciding to just use the two channel feature. Not going to do a cross over. What i want to know is whats the best way to wire this. I read the manual for the 810 and the 5 inputs on the back, two of them off to the right are for daisy chaining. But it says either can be used as parrallel inputs. So to hook two amps up to one cab, in my case its going to be power amp a and power amp b on the svt4pro, the manual suggests going from one amp to the top quarter inch and from the other amp to the bottom speakon. In my train of though, parallel meaning multiple paths, is it possible or a good idea to use both speakons as an input (as it says they are in the manual) for both power amps. I know that the suggested way, and i'm goign to do that for now, and i will end up trying it the other way, but this seems to be a gray area for most, and i just need to know how to get the clean loud unclipping volume out of my amp. When it clips i assume it has to do with how the amp mono bridges them, because i can run one channel to the whole 810 wide open with no problems. So my thought is use both amps alone, and this should eliminate any problems of clipping. Let me know what you guys thinks, my 4pro didn't come with a manual so i will have to get on the internet and read it, and then re read the 810 manual to make sure i'm getting the best out of my killer rig. Love the tone, fairly clean sounding all the way up!!!

you cant use both speakons because the top 4x10 in the cab can only be used with a 1/4 speaker cable not a spekon. the speakons are for mono or lower 4x10 only. if its a newer cab you would have to use one 1/4 inch from power amp a to the top input labeled upper 4x10-dual mode only and one 1/4 inch from power amp b labeled lower 4x10-dual mode only. youll be sending 300 watts to each set of 4x10s. should work good just make sure the button for stereo or mono operation is out not in.

Clipping the 810e in mono-bridge mode? Try this, put all buttons and sliders flat, and turn off all extra switches. I have two of these amps and at this amp's "neutral setting", it still puts out a large amount of low end. You should not even bother boosting the bass frequencies on your bass or this amp, it's not going to amount to anything useful on the 4 PRO/810e rig. Don't touch the Ultra Low Button either, you are much better off decreasing 500hz on the EQ slider just a little bit than hitting that button.

People clipping their rig with a 4 PRO usually don't realize the amount of low end that comes out of it with no boosting. You have to remember that the 810e is a loud cab, but it rounds off the lowest part of the bass guitar spectrum in favor of boosting the audible low end, the thick midrange and rounds off the highs. This is the secret to cutting through the guitarists, not boosting the lows to oblivion and using more of the midrange along with the more audible/thicker sounding low end to low mids. That's a big reason why the 810e is still around and why you see it on big stages with heavy metal acts and many rock bands.

can u elaborate on this, when i ran it mono bridge i didn't have anything boosted, i wasn't using the 9band, and i had all of my setting at noon as far as gain and master, i will try it again and make sure all of my switches are off and if by neutral do you mean everything at noon? right now i'm just running it dual mono. And i can set it all how i want (lo switch in, slight bass-2oclock,mid-noon,treble-10oclock,) and the speakers never click or fold. If you have your amp set up monobridge, can you post a picture of your settings? i think i grasp the concept, just affraid of making my cab pop again, its crazy loud and i dont' know how many more times they can handle it. I just figured that since it was 800rms and whatever peak, the monobridge feature was geared towards pro series cabinets.

Neutral would be all knobs at noon. No boost or cut. Do you have the correct mono-bridge cable? I wired one myself and have had no problems. The cable Ampeg makes has one speakon end wired for mono-bridging and the other end is a 1/4inch. I don't know why they use a 1/4inch on the other end when I just found out 1/4 cables were not designed to do wattages above 300 watts. I just bought a Speakon to Speakon cable and rewired one end. It's really easy to do and you can find a diagram on Crown's website. (Crown Amplifiers).

I need to take back one of my comments about boosting low end on this head - you can do it and be just fine. I was referring to the people I have seen boost it quite high and get confused when the amp and speaker can't handle the insanity.

The 4PRO CAN beat up the regular 810E, the lower power one (100W/speaker). You will get loud "bangs" as the speakers all hit the magnets at once. You don't absolutely HAVE to boost lows to make that happen. But boosting will do it.

The 610 HLF has speakers that take more cone travel, and they don't have that issue particularly.

if that is the problem, lay off the low end, even knock it down a little. It won't help you get loud, it just gets lost, really.

But, if your speaker, settings and style will handle it, mono is usually considered THE way to set up the 4PRO. Maximum "headroom", least amp clipping. But however you like it is fine..... I'm not here to say nothing else works, just that usually nothing else is as loud and "free".

Well we had our show last night. Pre show i tried to hook it up mono bridge, all switches out, everything at noon, and your right, i still could get it to pop. So i just decided to run it dual mono and call it good. And in the mist of all that i figured out the way i PERSONALLY need to cut threw the mix. (by no means to i want this to turn into a huge debate.) But our band has dual guitars and midrange is there is just no room for a bass to compete with tube marshalls. They own mid and hi frequencies period. I have tried everything i can to cut through there mix, distortion, clean, midrange boost, treble boost, they only thing there cabs can't recreate is my low end. I kept switching the setting as fast as i could between songs, and while the Lo button pushed in sucks some of the over all volume out of it, if i can get that sound loud enough, i can hear just fine. I was running her dual mono, gain at noon master at 10, with no lo button i was loud enough to just not even hear my rhythm player, but that hardly does me any good, and if i turn down then we are butting heads in a shared frequency. I just need to get a cab that can take the 1200rms she can put out and i know it will deliver..

well i'm looking into having a cab custom built by a small business called Better Audio. He makes bass cabs and says he has a 4x10 that would be a perfect match for my amp. I also my just replace all the speakers to a 200rms a peice drivers and and just keep the cab. I know that cab construction is a big deal and it get gut turning low end like i'm looking for i may wanna consider a new cab design, ported and tuned. I will just have to see, but i love the head! i switched from a classic to a 4pro, love how clean it stays even at max volume.
