svt810 with 2 svt-15E 's

Hey Guy's

Is there a way to modify my 2 svt-15E's so that they would be as one on 4Ohm?

Basically, I would like to use my two 15's to work with my fridge on a single head (SVT1000), the head and cabs don't do 2 Ohm's

I have a Behringer 300Rms head (BH3000 or something like that)I can also use it as a slave with the send/return in the two 15's but I am not sure i'm getting the svt1000 sound..?!? Am I getting the behringer's amp sound when using send/return from the SVT1000, or its using the Ampeg's head sound ?

Note that I'm not bitching Behringer, just that I personally find its , well...crapy sound.

I am not expert with these things, I play it and that's about it :bassist:

You cannot "modify" the 15's, but assuming they're both 8 ohm cabs, then running them together equals 4 ohms. Suggest you read the FAQ's at the top of the page. As to running an 810 with the 2 15's, well that IS a 2 ohm load for one amp, but using both your amps will work, and there are several ways you can accomplish that.

Indeed I am aware about ohm's :) But when putting 2 heads together, witch sound is using what? Will I be getting the Behringer sound from my two 15" (send/return) , You dig? I will buy another ampeg head if I get the Behringer's sound and not the full ampeg's sound true the Behringer. I am asking because I don't want to bring the two cabs in the studio and get fooled. I don't have a car and Its trouble to ask my friends as they all have small cars with baby seats in the back...Space is very limited as well as my back.

You have 3x 4 ohm speaker cabinets.

Make a series speaker cable and have the 2x15's in series with each other. Two 4 ohm cabs in series give's you an 8 ohm load.

From there you can either use half of your 810 in parallel with the 2x 2x15s with only the SVT1000. Or you could use the preamp out of the SVT1000 into the power amp in of the behringer amp.

Use the SVT1000 to drive the 2x 2x15s (8 ohm load) and the Behringer to drive the 810 (4 ohm load).

That way you'll be using your SVT's preamp, so the sound will be similar for both.

Id suggest the SVT1000 at 8 ohms for the 2x15s as that will give you more power than the behringer at 4 ohms.

When you say studio, why do you need that much speaker area? For recording it would be complete overkill and I'd say it'll also be complete overkill for practicing too!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and state that most of the "sound" of a solid state amplifier comes from the preamp section. So you could use the preamp out of the SVT1000 into the power section of another amp and still maintain "most" of the SVTs sound. Your best bet would be to buy another SVT1000, though.

he ehe h..no worries... We jam live in the studio also. And yes its loud! our drummer has over 25 years experience in metal and his style is loud, loudest drummer I ever had . So yes, we need a lot of power when practicing ( If it was not a money issue, I would have purchased a 810 Vader Cab, so maybe in the years to come). I would like it better to have two 15" and a 810 cause the sound quality will be better for live plays. Lower down the SVT and adjust the EQ for a more 'Bassy' sound from the 15's..you know what I mean jelly bean?

Hum...I wonder, does all death metal bands are playing as loud as we are??? I would say yes ;)

If you were to run the behringer using the SVT1000's preamp, you wouldn't be able to control the EQ for the individual cabs.

I prefer to cut through rather than just be bassy, but that's me :p (sure as hell dont need any more than my 810 and 300 watt amp for gigs, even that is overkill, rarely go past 12 o'clock on the volume. And it's loud, oh yes.)

Also, just the generic "I hope you wear ear plugs" comment. If you aren't, and you guys are throwing that much volume about, especially in a smaller space like a studio, you'll end up deaf in no time flat :p

You're not the first one to say that. I used to owe a Ludwig and every time I started playing, the first 15 minutes where not loud but once the 'felling' kicked in, holly smokes that it became louder. Its no easy to control once your in that groove...but what can you do, there's no law against that :P

Many of my friends and my main man at my local music store (Steve's Music) agreed that if you put the 810 with two 15's, It does enhance the sound, getting that FAT BASS out easier, he was 'drulling' just thinking of it...Alright, i'm convinced, I will bring these suckers and try them out Friday.

The last time I checked. Those ampeg 15's are 8 ohm cabinets.

You could be right. But 8ohm 2x15s aren't the most common of speaker cabs.

EDIT - Nevermind, I totally misread the OP. I thought he was using two 2x15s. Apologies, it's been a long day!

I would still do what I listed, just run the two 15's off the SVT1000 (tho I dare say you might not want to push it too much, don't know what the rating is but I doubt 2x15's could handle that much power). If he's wanting to make use of the two amps. Or use your suggestion to get an 8 ohm load if he only wants the one amp.

To add more spice, my guitarist just called me saying he ordered a vader cab (412). Coincidence is'ent it, I wanted to hookup my two 12's, etc ...!?!?

Gets me thinking about the 18" model (vc118bk) instead of my 2 15" ampeg's...damn it, this is getting out of control, I like it ;)

I hope there's some post about these Vader's here..will search once i'm done with this post ;)
