Hello everyone,
I have a question about swapping pickups in my bass and any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I looked at the wiring diagrams for the new pickups and searched the web for a few days looking at forum posts and pictures, but I'd really appreciate some info from you folks here.
I want to swap out the EMG-X soapbar pickups in my Spector with Seymour Duncan "Hammer Smashed Bass" soapbar pickups. The pickups are the same size (in fact, I have a pair of the Seymour Duncan's in another identical model Spector bass using the same preamp) so they will fit. I will not be changing the preamp, I want to keep the same preamp. I won't be changing anything about the control knobs either.
Would swapping out the EMG-X pups for the Seymour Duncan pups be as simple as unscrewing the EMG's, disconnecting them from the connector clip, then connecting the Duncan's to the connector clip and screwing them in?
I've got no issue taking the bass to a professional for installation but I'd rather save the trip (and the money) if the swap would be simple.
