Swapping tubes in a hybrid amp

That amp can use a good cleaning. That gunk can affect the performance of the amp. It prohibits heat dissipation and can be conductive.

Cleaning has to be done properly, preferably with a vacuum, do not blow air into the chassis with compressed air unless you know how to do it properly.

Hahaha...Yes ,I'm well aware of how dirty the amp is and I intend on giving it a good cleaning...I was thinking a vacuum with a soft brush attachment on the hose..

yeah ..there's not a lot of room in there and I don't want to knock anything lose...I'll have to settle for "good enough" ...it's not as clean as I'd like it but it's better.(I get a little nervous doing this stuff because I don't want to break anything..lol)..now I'm just waiting for @agedhorse to confirm my tube location to the picture I just posted...

Q-tips dipped into isopropyl alcohol, available from a pharmacy can be used.

But before anything is done, the electrolytic caps have to be fully discharged. You can seriously zap yourself, even if the amp is turned off and unplugged. To do this safely, you need a voltmeter and a simple tool for draining the caps. If you don't know how to do this, leave it for a tech.

Yeah..I'll leave that to a pro..lol...I'm actually going to bring it in for another reason and I'll have them do a good cleaning..
