Was looking to possibly get an Ibanez 5'r and when I sorted by Open Box at Sweetwater there were some smoking deals.
Sorted by Deals-> Bass -> Bass Guitars.
They have a 300 series' 5'r for $400 (SR305EDX) and if you call your engineer they'll usually add strings or a strap or something.

Be sure to shop around though. Here's a new model on Reverb for $435, which makes that blemished open-box instrument a bit less smoking.

Thing about SW is I feel there’s no chance of twisted neck, sprouty frets, etc. and they’ll always throw in nice strings if you ask.

Sweetwater can do good checks of gear… but there are ample examples of misses too. I’d personally choose the new model from the authorized dealer who takes returns. Saving $35 on a used instrument and getting $20 strings isn’t bad but it’s just not a ‘smoking deal’
