Switch for Mesa Big Block 750

Just converted to a Mesa Boogie 2x12 powerhouse and a big block 750 a few days ago and have a little question if anybody could share knowledge with me regarding the 750. Bought it used and came with out the footswitch. I tried a latching switch with a stereo 1/4" to switch the overdrive. Left the ring open, because I do not need a second switch for the mute. Now I have an overdrive switched on status as it should be but if I try to go to normal, the amp stays between the two modes with a dimed overdrive LED and a very low level signal. Any experience with non Mesa footswitches and the 750 - has this perhaps something to do with the LEDs and their power supply method in the original mesa footswitch? Any comment is highly welcome!!!

I don't know if i can answer your question, but I have a BB750 and the original footswitch and cable. It is a stereo cable for sure and the switch has 2 different LED's. When the amp is put into "tuner mute" the amp is not silent but plays at very low volume.

It sounds like to me that the switch you are using either switches on overdrive, or flicks to tuner mute.

You are saying even with the original switch it is not doing the mute function 100%? Does anybody have the same problems with the switch functions?

I currently use the original footswitch, but have tried many before (from expensive Boss-FS6 to cheap plastic crap). It always works fine, but I have never tried a mono switch. I'll try one in the evening. We'll see, how this works.
I also have the problem of no "real" muting, but the DI-out is muted completely.And for a long time I had another problem: Switching the overdrive on and off caused a loud pop-noise, but after about 20 minutes of running the amp, it disappears. Has anyone of you experienced the same?
