It's difficult finding short scale bass strings in Thailand. Before I figured out that I could order them on Amazon in the US and ship them here ($19.99 strings that cost me $30) I bought what I could find in Thailand. What I could find were regular Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Short Scales.
I needed to change my strings and realized that I only had the Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Short Scale strings. So I mounted them. They are difficult to play to say the least. Very stiff and that stiffness does not equate to better, punchier sound. They are just stiff and difficult to play. I see no benefit to using them. So I've now got two sets of Super Slinky SS strings on order. Once they arrive the Regular Slinky SS strings will come off for good. I've used Ernie Ball Regular Slinky on my 34 inch bass and they are Ok, but the short scale version really suck.
