Switchin to power/pre setup

Hey guys,
I just sold my svt-3pro and would like to convert to a power amp and preamp setup.
I need the rig to power 2 (2 by 12s) and they handle 900 rms each. ones 4 ohms and one is 6-8 ohms not sure.
So, can you guys give me some suggestions for a poweramp that can power both cleanly and a nice pre for the money.
thanks, :bassist: budget $600

You're not providing enough information to make a recommendation. IMO the manufacturer's power rating of a speaker cabinet is one of the last things that I would rely on to make any buying decisions. Let us know what sized gigs you are trying to cover, with or without PA support. What model cabinets are you using? What kind of music are you playing?

With that said I would go used at that price point. How about a QSC RMX1450 power amp and an Ampeg SVP-Pro preamp? That will work if you liked the sound of the 3-Pro that you had.

I second the QSC/Ampeg SVP- used they can be found in your budget range. Word to the wise- the SVP can be noisy, it's chock full of tubes. You might also look at the Stewart World 1.2. It has dual power amps that can still pack a wallop seperately for different cabs, or you can bridge it for 1200 watts. You might find one used for around 300$.
