Switching between upright and electric during sets.. need pedal suggestions

I'm in a cover band where I play both upright and electric in the same set. Usually I only have to switch once in a set, but sometimes I've had to switch out 2-3 times depending on requests from the audience or the BL changing his mind on the setlist.. Grr.

Anyway, it's turning into a giant pain in the butt, so I want to get a pedal that allows me to drop one bass, pick up the other and hit a switch. I've been swapping cables but it takes time and according to the BL is a buzz kill waiting for me to get my bass swap sorted out.

Any suggestions would be welcome.. thanks

If you like to take on DIY projects a simple A/B should be enogh and really cheap. I did this to switch between my bass and other instrument (guitar, keyboard or piezo drum) when playing solo looping.
You can check the kit in general guitar gardgets:

This is a pic of my A/B, it is so small that I just keep it in my board and used as a mute switcht when needed. I bet you can even get a smaller foot print if need

Years ago I used a simple A/B box. Results were not great.

My last touring rig used an Ashley MX508 rack mixer. I used a couple of Shure A95U to patch into the mic inputs. For switching I hit the mic/line button to mute the appropriate channel. Obviously, the benefit of the mixer was EQ and gain adjustments on each instrument. The Ashley had bass, treble, and a semi parametric mid control. Obviously the MX508 is way too expensive, but maybe some sort of cheap mixer or a dual preamp pedal would be a good solution. Do you need 1Meg impedance for a piezo equipped string bass?

Here's a preamp pedal I found...no idea how good it is and the specs don't mention the input impedance.

Yeah, all you need is something like the Morley ABY. If you wanted additional processing on the upright that would be a separate issue, although there is probably gear that would address both things at once. Honestly, what you want to do is have the ABY as far down the chain as possible, so anything that only gets used on electric is on the electric "leg" (call it "A") and anything that's only on the upright is on the upright "leg" ("B"). That way you minimize signal loss on each, plus you can leave things "on" and not worry about noises (ie less turning off 5 or 8 pedals to switch to upright, just hit the ABY and you're ready).

Then anything that goes on both is after the ABY switch.

i use bigshot io from radial ... sturdy pedal, great great great !!!! it looks simple but you can hook up your tuner on it, use it as mute, and you can match your levels of your basses with its trip pot and you can add some brightness with a switch it has in case you have some signal loss... what more can you ask??? i use this version of the pedalmaxresdefault.jpg

I use this exact pedal, but I run a preamp between the upright and aby pedal to balance the signal level and impedance between the channels. Works great.
