Double Bass Switching from pops rosin to kolstein soft

Hey, I was just wondering how I should go about switching rosins. I have switched between Carlson's and pops, both harder rosins, and was wondering how I should go about switching from Pops to Kolstein soft without rehairing my bow.

you can carefully clean the hair using an alcohol (isopropyl or ethanol) just take the frog off the stick and loop the hair into the liquid; take care not to get any alcohol on the stick or wooden parts.

Haha, I have had a couple of pops rosin cakes, some of them were softer, and some of them were harder, and more powdery.

Just put the new rosin on when you need rosin next. Most rosins work best with a basecoat of Pops.

I often buy a new cake of rosin and get a rehair at about the same time. If you don't need a rehair, you can probably just start with the new rosin, or play down the existing rosin (don't apply any for a couple of days) before switching.

If your pops is hard leave it in your car, windows up, for 24 hours on a hot day. It'll soften up, I guarantee it.

Buy Leatherwood Bespoke , 50 or 60 %, and you'll be amased.

I recently melted (carefully) a stale half "tin" of pops and a stale half tin of Kolstein. Put the mix in the wonderful Kolstein silicone container. Love it so far (couple of weeks). Be careful hot rosin will mess with skin.
