I switched from elixir nanos (coated)
To dr hi beams about a month ago now and I still feel like I'm relearing certian things.
I've mostly gotten used to the hi beams. They sound great, but things like slides and ghost notes ares still kind of annoying.
I find it's very easy to dig in a little too much. The hi beams feel so grippy in comparison to my old strings.
Have any of you ever made a similar change? How long was the adjustment period?
I feel like things should be getting better faster but i habe played smooth nickles and costed strings almost exclusively.
I'd say I'm at about 90%. The texture makes me fumble occasionally. Nothing crazy. Just tiny bit off time here or there due to the string not breaking iff my finger when expected. Also , I find the hi beams very expressive, but it's SO easy to dig in a little too much. I have to be so much more aware of technique. It's very easy to accent notes unintentionally.
I dint want to give up on the strings. They sound amazing. It's just tsking a lot longer than anticipated to adjust to the feel.
