sword recommendations

Well, there isn't much you need in a wall-hanger other than looks. So, if you dig that sword, go for it. That price looks hard to beat.

If you're looking for more than just a wall hanger, I recommend contacting a local Live Steel reinactment organization. They would be able to give you information as to quality blades for sport-combat and teach you how to use them responsibly.

um that is merely a decorative sword and not a functional weapon...

What style are you into? Are you looking for something from a particular time period?

If your looking for a functional weapon and don't want to pay upwards of $1,000.00 dollars, i suggest you try Windlass Steelcrafts (Museum quality replicas) you can pick up a functional sword there for between $200.00 and $350.00 depending on style and era, that you actually hit something with and it not shatter. The sword you are currently looking at is not made from high quality carbon steel but cheap stainless and is not designed to flex and will shatter if you try to use it as a functional weapon. It has been stamped and not actually forged. I myself have a few of their rapiers (I fence)

Do some research...you will see what i mean

You didn't say if you wanted to use it(i.e. functional real sword that won't fall apart) or just have a wall display. The Bud K sword you linked to, IHO, would most likely not hold up at all if you did anything other than display it.

If you're putting a costume together to go to the local ranaissance faire, sure. A BudK sword will be fine for that. If you are hoping to actually have one you can use, do as SnoMan says and find someonewho can teach you to handle it responsibly.

I really coveted some pieces I saw at the RenFaire a couple of years back. Damascus rapiers with deer antler basket hilts with celtic knotwork carved all over the antlers. Awesome. I wanted them as badly as I used to want a damascus wazikashi with a katana-length quilted maple hilt that I saw there. Both were waaaaay too much money. Like, Lakland USA money.

And I don't actually NEED either one. So I don't have them.

Conan has a kickin sword, so does Maximus. But for me, the coolest of all cool swords belongs to Aragorn. His sword is called Anduril.

You should get a replica of one of those. Heck, get them all!
