SWR 2x10 Retolex Project COMPLETE

nice try for a first time DIY.

I was about to say "fender/swr are you listening/watching?"
i read through this thread.. i guess they are.
it great when a person who works at the company or publication interacts directly with the costumer on forums.

i love the single badge in the center, white toltex, black ampegish grill. way way better looking than the production models. sharp!

i've always loved the performance of some of the swr stuff, but the rat fuzz and the grills have never been my cop o tea. its the same thing with my gk neo cab, love the sound, hate the badge style and steel colored metal grill.

i think some manufactures are finally listening and fazing out the rat fuzz on some models.

Thanks for the compliments! Yeah, it's got a couple minor flaws I could do without, but it was a first time trying. Hopefully the 3M 90 holds up for at least a year or so, it seems REALLY secure right now (only a week after applying)...I also have tons of extra tolex incase I need to "patch" anything up, or even replace an entire piece.

My whole issue with this project was that I adore the sound of my SWR 2x10, especially with my Orange 15", but got so tired of the nasty rat-fur, it started to smell, had a few stains on it, and mostly it didn't match my rig. I prefer the neo-vintage look (did I just make that up?). The current look just had to go.

My band really loves the way it looks now on my stack...and they never notice stuff like that.

Here's an updated pic of my rig from my phone! Hope ya'll like it. (I know, I really need to invest in a decent camera )

I'll add to the thread hijack...

I just picked up an acme lowb2 in need of some love, and decided to refin it. I was VERY leary of going at the rat fur, especailly after reading this and some other threads.

It took me about 20 minutes in front ofthe TV to unscrew the corners, pry off the metal edges, and peel off the carpet.

I certainly have some sanding to do, and there are glue clumps and hair left, but I think the moral is that when it comes to the rat fur, it just depends.

The first 2 minutes was the hardest part. the next 18 went smoothly.

I dont think you'll know till you try.

I didnt.
